Emperor Penguin
The Emperor Penguins is the largest type of penguin in the world! It is a flightless bird with wings. Its scientific name is Aptenodytes Forsteri. An adult Emperor Penguin is taller than a 4 year old child.
Emperor Penguins have black feathers on their back and white feathers on the front. It also has yellow feathers on its neck and chest. Its height can reach up to 120cm (1m 20cm). It weighs up to 20kg-40kg. Emperor Penguins have a thick layer of blubber underneath their feather to keep them warm while they are swimming in the ocean. They have special feathers that are waterproof and windproof.
Emperor Penguins eat squid, small fish, shrimp and krill. They also eat other
crustaceans. Emperor Penguins are secondary consumer which means they are second
to be eaten by whales and sharks. Emperor Penguins are Carnivores.

Emperor Penguins move with their wings, tail and feet to help them steer in the water. Their wing span can be as long as 76cm – 89cm! Emperor Penguins can swim as fast as 24km/h! Emperor penguins dive in water 26 times a day for hunting and can stay in the water for 8 minutes. Emperor Penguins travel in colonies.
The Emperor Penguin are not in direct danger from humans. Emperor Penguins are hunted by Leopard Seals and Killer Whales. Their biggest threat is global warming and rapid ice-melt.
