A swarm of krill are found in the Southern part of the North Atlantic in the open oceans. Only one of a kind of species lives the deepest, darkest oceans. Some other krills live under the Antarctic sea ice.
Krill don't eat much at all. Krill eat phytoplankton, ice-algae and dead plants. Although themselves don't eat much they are the primary food source of Antarctica.
Krill may seem boring but it is the most vital and fascinating creature in Antarctica. Whales, seals, penguins, sea birds and squids all rely on krill to survive. If humans destroy all of the krill then all animals in Antarctica will starve and die out. Krill must be protected to ensure the delicate balance of the Antarctic food chain.
